Dishwashers and stewarding

Dishwashing is the busiest spot in the event kitchen. A 200-guest wedding burns through about 1,500–2,000 pieces of crockery, cutlery and glassware — non-stop rotation is what keeps service on tempo. For premium events and 5★ hotels we also recruit stewarding (the professional equivalent — with sorting, storage, inventory). Entry-level role with no prior experience required. For permanent restaurant and hotel roles, employers recruit directly through the PHE platform.

Dishwasher vs stewarding

Same functional role, two registers. „Dishwasher” is the standard term for events and casual restaurants: rotating crockery, utensils, glasses. „Stewarding” is the premium version for 4–5★ hotels and events with delicate ware (fine porcelain, crystal glasses): adds sorting, storage, inventory, HACCP-protocol sanitation. Neither term is „more dignified” than the other — what matters is how you treat the candidate.

Dishwasher (standard)
Non-stop rotation of crockery, utensils, glasses. Pre-rinse, loading the machine, unloading, sorting at station. For events and casual restaurants.
Stewarding (premium)
Professional version for 4–5★ hotels. Adds sorting by type / brand, organized storage, weekly inventory, breakage reporting. Careful with delicate ware.
HACCP sanitation
HACCP-compliant sanitation: correct water temperatures, food-grade detergents, clean / dirty zone separation. Required for all restaurants and hotels with sanitary authorization.
General cleanup support
Work surfaces, waste, the dishwashing area. Many dishwashers also pick up cleanup tasks on the go or between shifts.

How many dishwashers do you need?

Count depends on event size, duration and tableware type. For long events (12h+) we organise shift rotation:

FAQ — dishwashers

What's the difference between dishwasher and stewarding?+

Same functional role, different registers. Dishwasher = standard for events and casual restaurants. Stewarding = premium version for 4–5★ hotels and events with delicate ware, with sorting, storage, inventory and strict HACCP protocol. 8h event rate: dishwasher 250–400 RON, stewarding 320–500 RON.

How many dishwashers for a 200-guest wedding?+

2 dishwashers for a 200-guest 8–10h wedding. For 300+ weddings: 3 dishwashers. For XL weddings (500+): 4+ dishwashers plus shift rotation.

Is „dishwasher” an acceptable term?+

Yes. „Dishwasher” is the official / colloquial Romanian term, correctly used. International contexts and 5★ hotels use „stewarding” or „dishwasher” (English). Neither term is „more dignified” than the other.

Are dishwashers HACCP-certified?+

For permanent restaurant / hotel roles, candidates earn HACCP in the first 30 days (a short course required for sanitary authorization). For one-off events, candidates who already hold HACCP are flagged and prioritised for clients who require the document.

How do you cover long events (12h+) — one dishwasher can't last?+

Correct. For 10h+ events we organise a rotation: two dishwashers swapping mid-event, or one dishwasher plus a helper who steps in for 1–2 hours in the middle. Sustained overload = mistakes and broken ware.

I have no experience — can I work as a dishwasher?+

Yes — it's the preferred entry point into HoReCa. We ask for: physical capacity (8–12h on your feet, 5–10 kg lifting), learning attitude, on-time presence. Tidy appearance is enough — we provide the uniform if needed. Registration is free.

Do you have stewarding for 5★ hotels?+

Yes. For permanent 4–5★ hotel stewarding, the employer recruits directly through the PHE platform and filters candidates with prior stewarding experience. Market norms for permanent placement: 1.0–1.5× one month's gross salary.
