A. Sign-up and vetting

How do I sign up with PHE?+

Go to /register, fill in personal details, work experience (past employers, dates, roles), availability and an optional photo. We contact you within 48h for a 15-min phone screening. Once accepted you enter the active pool and start receiving relevant jobs.

Do I have to pay anything to be in your pool?+

No, never. Sign-up, vetting and placement are completely free for candidates. Our business model is B2B — employers pay us. If anyone (even someone claiming to be a PHE recruiter) ever asks you for money to get a job or expedite placement, report it immediately to contact@personalhorecaevenimente.ro — it's fraud.

What documents do I need to send?+

Online sign-up: just the form. At the interview (first contact): only a copy of your ID (verified on the spot, NOT stored). For roles requiring certifications (HACCP, WSET for sommeliers), copies of the certificates. We don't ask for criminal records, extensive medical certificates, or other complicated documents — GDPR-safe by design.

How long does the vetting process take?+

Standard: 5–10 working days from sign-up to active-pool inclusion. Steps: (1) 15-min phone pre-screening, (2) experience verification (calls to past employers — 2–3 days), (3) reference checks (at least 2 references — 2–3 days), (4) for senior roles, a practical test. You then receive email confirmation and job access.

What if a previous employer doesn't confirm my experience positively?+

We talk to you about the context — whether there was a specific conflict, whether there's an alternative reference from a colleague or direct manager. We don't auto-reject based on one negative report — we check at least 2 sources. If most references are negative on the same points (absenteeism, attitude), we recommend you don't sign up — we want candidates with a positive history.

B. Getting jobs

How do I hear about new jobs?+

After acceptance: (1) you get automatic email or SMS alerts for jobs matching your profile (role, city, availability), (2) you can log into the site anytime to see all open jobs, (3) for urgent jobs, we call you directly.

Can I refuse a job?+

Yes, anytime. If a job doesn't fit (pay below expectation, distant venue, bad date), just say so — no penalty. Repeated refusals (10 jobs in a row without valid reason) trigger a conversation about whether PHE is the right fit for you.

How often do I get job offers?+

Depends on your profile: experienced waiters with English get 2–5 offers/week in season. Helpers and runners get 1–3/week. Peak season (December Christmas parties, May–September weddings) brings significant volume. Highly specialised roles (sommelier, executive chef): 1–2 offers/month.

Can I work 2–3 jobs in parallel through PHE?+

Yes, as long as schedules don't overlap and every employer agrees. Waiters typically work 2–3 events a week (Friday, Saturday, optionally Thursday or Sunday). For permanent (full-time) contracts you can't hold a second one (schedule conflict).

C. Pay and payment

What do I earn per event or per month?+

Depends on role and experience. Bucharest estimates, 2026:

  • Mid waiter: 400–500 RON / 8h event or 3,800–5,000 RON gross/month permanent
  • Bartender: 600–700 RON / event or 4,500–6,500 RON gross/month
  • Helper: 250–350 RON / event or 2,800–3,500 RON gross/month

Summer coast season with lodging: 4,000–8,000 RON/month plus tips. See the pricing guide.

How do I get paid?+

For events: invoice from PHE to the candidate (as PFA self-employed or natural person with civil agreement), paid 7–14 days post-event via bank transfer. For permanent contracts: salary directly from the employer (PHE only facilitates the initial connection). No cash payment — zero undeclared work, protection for you and tax compliance.

Do I need to register as PFA?+

For regular event work through PHE (more than 2–3 events/month), we recommend registering as PFA (self-employed) — it's more efficient fiscally and legally. For occasional work (1–2 events/year), a civil agreement works (less tax-efficient but acceptable). We help with PFA setup information.

Do I pay tax and CAS on what I earn?+

Yes. As a PFA you pay 10% income tax plus CAS (10% or waived if you have a parallel employment contract) plus CASS (10% or waived). Roughly 30% in taxes on gross income. PHE issues correct invoices so you can file the Unified Declaration in May of the following year.

Are tips included in the pay?+

No. You receive tips directly from the client (organiser, lead waiter, couple) — separate from PHE pay. PHE doesn't take any cut of tips. Realistic tip at a well-served wedding: 50–150 RON per waiter when the client thanks people directly. In restaurants, tips usually pool across the shift's crew.

D. Your rights as a candidate

What rights do I have if I get hurt at an event?+

On the PHE services contract you're covered by PHE's general work-accident insurance per Romanian law. On permanent employment contracts with the employer directly, you have standard Labour Code insurance. In case of accident: notify the PHE coordinator or the employer immediately, go to hospital, report the accident within 24h. PHE covers medical costs per the insurance terms.

Can I refuse to serve alcohol to a visibly intoxicated guest?+

Yes, it's your right and obligation under Romanian Law 61/1991 (banning alcohol sales to visibly intoxicated people). Tell the client politely — suggest water or coffee. If they push aggressively, escalate to the PHE coordinator or organiser immediately. PHE always backs candidates who apply the law correctly.

What do I do if a client harasses me or treats me rudely?+

Zero-tolerance harassment policy. Notify the PHE coordinator or organiser immediately. We move you off that table or client. For serious harassment (aggressive verbal, physical, sexual) you leave the venue and call us — we send a replacement. Full pay for the hour. For the offending client, we report to the employer (where it's a private event) and optionally to the authorities.

Can I leave an event if I feel unwell?+

Yes. Notify the coordinator, go home (with PHE-paid transport if needed). You're paid for the hours worked until you leave. Repeat cases (more than 2 events/month) prompt a conversation about whether you should register with more limited availability or take a recovery break.

E. For candidates without experience

Can I work through PHE if I've never done HoReCa?+

Yes, there are entry-level roles: kitchen helper, dishwasher, runner (picol), barback. For these we ask: minimum age 18, clean appearance, willingness to learn, physical ability (on your feet 6–8h, lifting 5–10 kg). Free sign-up here.

How do I progress from helper to waiter?+

Typically 6–12 months as helper or runner with positive feedback — then promotion to junior waiter. PHE provides structured feedback after every event (we track performance). Consistently good performers are invited to free PHE courses — standard service, menu knowledge, client communication. After the course plus 6 months as helper, you progress to waiter.

Do you offer training courses?+

Yes, free for active PHE candidates. Types: (1) waiter course for promotion from runner or helper, (2) classic bartender course, (3) HoReCa English course (specific vocabulary), (4) specialised workshops (wine pairing, cocktail mixology). Run periodically with industry partners.

I'm a student — can I work through PHE?+

Yes, students are an important segment. Many part-time, weekend and seasonal jobs fit a university schedule. Summer coast seasons (May–September) are very popular with students — 4,000–8,000 RON / month with lodging.

F. For seasonal candidates (coast, mountain)

How does the coast season work?+

Season: 1 May – 30 September. Seasonal contract (3–5 months) directly with the hotel or restaurant, PHE handles the intermediation. Free lodging is standard at most employers. Monthly pay: 4,000–8,000 RON gross plus tips. Details on the Constanța-Mamaia page.

Mountain season (Poiana Brașov) — same system?+

Yes, but on the winter season (15 December – 15 March). Wages run ~15–20% above coast rates (work-conditions offset) — 4,500–8,500 RON / month plus lodging, meals and tips. Details on the Brașov page.

Can I do a season without prior experience?+

Yes, but at entry-level pay (helper or dishwasher: 3,500–4,500 RON / month). Better-paid roles (waiter, bartender) require at least 6 months of prior experience. If you want to start a season without experience, you can begin as helper and progress by the end of the season.

G. If I have a problem

The employer hasn't paid on time — what do I do?+

For PHE-facilitated events: notify us immediately — contact@personalhorecaevenimente.ro or 0755 828 996. We engage the employer directly. PHE guarantees payment: if the employer delays beyond 30 days, PHE pays an advance from its own funds and recovers later. For permanent contracts directly with the employer (PHE only facilitated the connection), we help with advice and escalation to the Labour Inspectorate (ITM) if needed.

The PHE coordinator or a teammate is treating me rudely.+

Notify PHE management directly: contact@personalhorecaevenimente.ro with details. We take every complaint seriously — we don't ignore or smooth over. For serious incidents (harassment, aggression) we investigate with witnesses and take action (suspension, permanent ban for those at fault).

I want to leave the PHE pool — what do I do?+

Email contact@personalhorecaevenimente.ro with „Please delete my account”. We process within 30 days per GDPR. Your personal data is deleted or anonymised. Exception: data retained for legal obligations (issued invoices — 10 years per the Tax Code). After deletion you stop receiving PHE communications and exit the active pool.

I want to change my details (phone, email, city, availability).+

Log into the site, go to „My account” and edit. Changes are instant. For significant changes (e.g. moving from Bucharest to Constanța), we call to re-confirm the profile.

Do you have a loyalty program for recurring candidates?+

Yes. Candidates with 10+ PHE events: priority access to premium jobs (corporate, VIP events at higher rates). 50+ events: invitation to „PHE Top Performers”, an annual thank-you event with a cash bonus (250–1,000 RON based on performance). For key active-pool roles (team leads, coordinators), an additional per-event coordination bonus.
